The new Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum movie was a funny and entertaining movie for those who don’t really expect that much in the way of story line and new content. It was apparent throughout the movie that scenes were ‘borrowed’ from movies like Romancing the Stone, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, and Journey to the Center of the Earth. The director missed out on a ton of laughs by not including simple one-liners to give a nod to the art they were mimicking. Somewhere between a spoof and a comedy, this movie is unable to really figure out what it is. The hilarious character played by Brad Pitt almost made fun of the heroes in typical action movies and was uncerimoniously dispatched in a way that I can only believe showed the disdain of masculine action heroes that the character represented. Overall, the movie was entertaining if you can overlook the need to choke back the meandering story line and forced scenes by what otherwise would be some great acting.
